LeBron James is 36 years old and somehow as dominant as he’s ever been. His old friend Dwyane Wade was happy to explain why.

Father Time will eventually win the war but so far, LeBron James has won every battle. He’s 36 years old and in his 18th season and he’s still playing at an MVP level, carrying an enormous load for one of the best teams in the league. LeBron’s 25.0 points per game average would be the second-best season mark ever by a player 36-or-older, behind Karl Malone’s 25.5 in 1999-00. Only John Stockton and Steve Nash have averaged more assists in a 36-or-older season than LeBron’s 7.5 this year.

And he’s not just holding off age-related decline, LeBron has actually gotten better. He’s currently shooting a career-best 40.9 percent from beyond the 3-point arc on a career-high 6.8 attempts per game, more than double the attempts he averaged in 2012-13, the only other season of his career in which he shot better than 40 percent on 3s.

Perhaps no one knows LeBron’s game better than Dwyane Wade, who spent more than a decade playing both with and against him. Even Wade is in awe of what LeBron is doing right now.

What did Dwyane Wade say about LeBron’s incredible season?

Appearing on Gilbert Arenas’ No Chill Podcast, Wade raved about LeBron’s season and made the bold statement that this might be the best he’s ever played (per ClutchPoints):

“Now I watch his game and I say, ‘Does he have a weakness in his game?’ It starts from the rim all the way back to half court. He can do everything. Let’s take it all the way back from the rebound. He does everything now. He’s shooting in the high 40s now and his range is out to the logo. You know midrange, he can post you up, face you up. Still going to dunk on you. His ability to see the floor is so much better now because he’s seen every coverage.

“I feel like this is the best LeBron I’ve ever seen.”

It’s a bold, hyperbolic statement. And it also might be true.
