After the Celtics loss on Wednesday, the New York Knicks just clinched their 2021 playoff spot, and some Knicks fans are taking it better than others.

Who would’ve thought? On Wednesday night, Boston fell to Cleveland (yes, Cleveland, who had been on an 11-game losing streak), which gave the New York Knicks their first playoff berth since 2013.

The news comes after the Knicks lost to the Lakers on Tuesday in a Hollywood heartbreaker, where Anthony Davis and company strong-armed an almost-good-enough Knicks squad in overtime to win 101-99.

But that’s all past now: the Knicks are officially going to the playoffs, no play-in required, and while the occasion might call for a bottle of champagne, some fans are simply…speechless.

The Knicks may not be the favorites to win it all, but right now, they’re the pride and glory of the Big Apple, and fans are letting them know it.

New York Knicks fans are celebrating their team’s victory in the craziest ways

Currently seeded sixth in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks have a few surprising statistics that account for their success so far. For one, they’re tied for third in the league for their three-point shooting (39 percent) as well as defensive rating (108.5).

All-Star home-grown talent Julius Randle, the recently rediscovered sharpshooting of Derrick Rose, a strong backcourt (RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin), and fewer minutes for Elfrid Payton have all contributed to the Knicks finally competing in the postseason this year. Whether it’s screaming into the heavens or silently crying alone, every Knicks fan’s reaction will include a bit of this:

It’s a Christmas in summer kind of day for New York, and Knicks fans have a reason to celebrate indeed.
