Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh headline what is a stacked 2021 Basketball Hall of Fame class.
This is a busy weekend for the Basketball Hall of Fame. The 2020 class was finally inducted after the original ceremony was canceled because of COVID-19. But the festivities didn’t stop there as the 2021 class was announced Sunday afternoon.
The class is a diverse one and is ultimately headlined by Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh.
Paul Pierce and Chris Bosh headline the 2021 Hall of Fame class
Pierce is the star here and was expected to be inducted. It is also great to see Bosh get his recognition after his All-Star career was cut short due to health reasons.
We also see Chris Webber finally receive this honor after years of being eligible. Defensive legend Ben Wallace also gets in as this class shows up with plenty of size.
Perhaps the coolest part of this class is Bill Russell getting in as a coach. He went in as a player decades ago and is now being recognized for the latter part of his NBA career. Imagine if LeBron James or Michael Jordan retired, only to win more titles as a head coach.
The 2021 class covers the NBA, WNBA, college basketball, and those who had an overall impact on the game.
On the WNBA side we see legendary rebounder Yolanda Griffith be honored for her great career. The former No. 2 overall pick is a former MVP and champion who also had a prolific career overseas.
Lauren Jackson joins Griffith as one of the more decorated women’s basketball players in history. Her career spans several continents and she won three WNBA MVP awards during her time in the league.
This class is filled with talent well beyond the work of just Pierce and Bosh. Each member put their stamp on the game of basketball and they all deserve this great honor.
