The Boston Celtics are in need of a new head coach and Michigan’s Juwan Howard has been named as a potential candidate.
Massive breaking news has arrived out of Boston, as Danny Ainge has decided to retire. With that, Brad Stevens is now taking over as the Celtics’ president of basketball operations effective immediately. With Stevens moving to the front office, Boston is now in need of a new head coach.
So, who could the team go out and land. According to hoops insider Jeff Goodman, one name in particular for the organization and Stevens to look at would be Juwan Howard.
Juwan Howard being linked to the Boston Celtics job should excite fans
Howard sure would be an exciting hire, right? The only issue for Stevens and Boston here is that Howard is running the show at Michigan, his alma mater. Howard has made it more than clear coaching the Wolverines has become a dream come true for him. He’s crushing it on the recruiting trail too, with Michigan set to be major players come next season.
With that being said, if the Celtics and NBA come calling, could Howard pass up the opportunity to make the jump from the college ranks to the pros? It very well could be too much for him to turn down, especially with all the young talent on the Celtics roster.
Howard would have the chance to work closely with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and other standout ballers. However, he’s really enjoying himself back in Ann Arbor at his old stomping grounds. Only time will tell if the Celtics end up putting an offer on the table for Howard. Stay tuned to see how things shape out here.
