76ers guard Danny Green out for at least 2 weeks with calf strain

NBA Playoffs, Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers will need to press on without guard Danny Green for the time being.

While it is not the worst news in the world, the Philadelphia 76ers have to prepare for life without guard Danny Green for the next few weeks.

Green had to exit Friday night’s Game 3 road win over the Atlanta Hawks due to a calf injury. He has been diagnosed with a calf strain and will miss around 2-3 weeks because of it. This means he will not play for the rest of the 76ers’ series vs. the Hawks, as well as probably a good portion of the Eastern Conference Finals, should Philadelphia advance past Atlanta in round two.

How big of a deal is it for the 76ers that they will be without Green probably until very early July?

The good news for the 76ers is they will probably advance past the Hawks in their best-of-seven, second-round series. Atlanta suffered a brutal loss with wing De’Andre Hunter being ruled out for the season with a torn meniscus. His absence has been felt by Atlanta’s struggling defense in the last two games. Where Philadelphia will feel Green’s absence is in the Eastern Conference Finals.

While the Milwaukee Bucks would be a tough team to match up with out on the perimeter without Green, it might be next to impossible if their conference finals opponent is the Brooklyn Nets. Even if they are dealing with injuries, containing two of the three between Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving will be difficult for almost any NBA team, much less an injured Philadelphia roster.

Though he has not been ruled out for the year, expect Green to be out for the foreseeable future.
