Joel Embiid sidelined after orbital fracture, concussion vs. Toronto Raptors

NBA Playoffs, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors

The Philadelphia 76ers will have to rely on James Harden to lead them as Joel Embiid reportedly works on recovering from an orbital fracture and concussion.

Unfortunately for the Philadelphia 76ers, it appears as if Joel Embiid will be out for a little while after the star suffered an injury against the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of that first round NBA playoff series.

According to a tweet from Shams Charania, Embiid is dealing with “a right orbital fracture and mild concussion.”

That’s not good!

Charania noted that there is currently no timeline for Embiid to return. That means the 76ers will almost certainly need to rely on James Harden to lead them as they move forward in the playoffs.

This is less than ideal for many reasons, but one that sticks out is that this is the second notable injury that Embiid has to recover from right now. According to Charania, Embiid has been playing despite having “a torn ligament in his right thumb.”

That’s really not good.
