The NBA has had a lot of amazing scoring performances this season. In a year where it seems offense has hit another high, these stars are at the very top.
This season has had a lot of crazy scoring performances and for a variety of reasons — more offensive responsibility for key players, the elimination take fouls and more. Five players this season are averaging at least 30 points per game. All of these players that are averaging 30 points per game are shooting at least 50 percent from the field. (Luka Doncic is shooting 49.9 but rounded up that is 50 percent, basically, all the top scorers are shooting at efficient clips this season).
But in a season of outlier performances, some have risen above the rest.
Who has had the best games of the NBA season so far?
5. Joel Embiid
The first player on this list is Joel Embiid, who had 59 points in a game against the Utah Jazz on Nov. 13. Embiid was able to explode, shooting 67 percent from the floor. In a game where he was able to lead the Sixers to a victory, the big man stuffed the stat sheet, going for 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 blocks.
This performance was badly needed as the Sixers were struggling, going 0-3 to start the season. This win got the Sixers back to 0.500. A win and 32 points by Embild in the next game, and the Sixers would go above 0.500 for the first time all season.
As he has every season, the All-NBA big man has missed games. This 76ers team in general has suffered from a lot of missed games from its stars (James Harden, Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey).
Still, the Sixers have been able to stay only three and a half games behind first place in the East. If the Sixers want a home-court advantage in the first round of the playoff, it will come down to whether Embiid can create more games like this.
