T.J. McConnell of the Indiana Pacers rocked a Damar Hamlin jersey before his most recent game, showing support for the hospitalized NFL player.
The entire sporting world has been sending all the good thoughts and support they can muster to Bills’ defensive back Damar Hamlin, who collapsed on the field during Monday night’s game against the Bengals. Hamlin suffered a cardiac incident and required CPR for roughly nine minutes before he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Messages of support have poured in from around the world and fans have worked together to donate more than $7 million this week to a GoFundMe campaign for a toy drive charity Hamlin organized. Support hasn’t just come from the NFL community — Pacers guard T.J. McConnell showed up to Wednesday night’s game in Philadelphia rocking a Hamlin jersey.
McConnell, like Hamlin, is from Pittsburgh and the two attended high schools just a few miles apart.
Recent updates on Damar Hamlin have been positive
Family and teammates of Hamlin have been sharing updates from the hospital and mostly it has been encouraging news. This morning the Bills also announced that “While still critically ill, he has demonstrated that he appears to be neurologically intact. His lungs continue to heal and he is making steady progress.”
McConnell isn’t the only NBA’er to voice support for Hamlin. Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell, Klay Thompson, Mike Conley and plenty of others have all shared messages of support on social media over the past few days.
